National Three Peaks Challenge -

With the end of an era and the break up of one of the best management teams in the industry the Alfred McAlpine Plc  3 Peaks Challenge took place in June 2008.  Four walking teams and one support team came together for the challenge, which involved  climbing the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike - 978m), Scotland (Ben Nevis - 1344m) and Wales (Snowdon - 1085m).

The Challenge is to complete all three and the drive of some 517 miles within 24 hours.  However the biggest challenge actually is to achieve it at all. Our team (the A Team) times were as follows -

Ben Nevis left following the tourist path at 16:41 and returned at 20:35.

Scafell Pike following the Brown Tongue Route, left at 04:15 and returned at 08:15.  It is worth noting here that one group got lost in the decent through the fog. The role of the A Team was not only to complete the challenge but to help ensure the safe return of all teams from each mountain.  As a result time was lost in trying to locate the missing team.  All were located safe and well made their way down the mountain.

Snowdon Following the Minors / Pyg Track, left at 13:17 and returned with minutes to spare, Mark 15 minutes, and Stephen with less than 10 seconds !!
